Kenton City Council Meets

The Kenton City Council heard updates from the United States Census Bureau on their 2020 efforts.
According to Cheryl Kellogg, the Census Bureau is gearing up for the upcoming census with their mission of educating and completion of the survey. Hopes are up for a high percentage completion rate with the inclusion of the first ever online census ballot being offered. With this addition, citizens will have a more available resource for completion, however, traditional ballot options will still be in use.
The Census Bureau is pushing for education into how truly important completing the ballot is, with the opportunity for Federal dollars being allocated to the county. The ballot, which is under debate in the Supreme Court of the United States for the proposed “legal citizen” question is expected to be decided on by August of this year, with the census being conducted in 2020. A resident of Kenton addressed Council with his gratitude for the work of officers of the Kenton Police Department and the Sheriff’s office. According to the resident, when officers Sgt. Carroll and Patrolman Kerry arrived at his residence they went above and beyond the call of duty. The Officers even fed and let his dog out before transporting him to the hospital. The resident said that these officers are one of a kind and deserve recognition for their hard work.
The next meeting of the Kenton City Council will be May 28th at 7 o’clock in Council Chambers.
