Kenton City Council Held a Meeting Monday Night

In last night’s meeting the council heard an update on the Rapid Speed Transportation Initiative or RSTI. The main goal of this initiative is for better, faster, safer transport between cities such as Pittsburgh, Columbus, and Chicago. As of right now the project is still in the early stages and only research is being conducted.
In new business an ordinance was passed that allowed for a transfer of funds to various areas. Most urgent of all was an additional $10,000 to the Fire Overtime fund. It was reported that without an immediate transfer of funds the Fire Department would be unable to pay the firefighters for their overtime. In total there were nineteen transfers listed in the ordinance. This is due to the coming end of the fiscal year and the budget has to be updated in order for a more accurate budget for the upcoming new year. For this ordinance the three reading rule was suspended and it was passed.
During comments Safety Service Director James Hites mentioned that Bales road will be closed at the railroad tracks from November 4th through the 8th. He also reminded residents to please do not put your leaves in the street.
Additionally, Experts over land banks will be holding a meeting on November 5th at Vets Hall at 10 A.M.
The next meeting of the Kenton City Council will be held on Tuesday November 12th at 7 P.M.
