Kenton City Council Continues Progress on Phase 1

Written by on February 24, 2020

In last night’s meeting an ordinance allowing the Mayor and Safety Service Director to apply for and accept a loan that would act as a repayment source for the construction of water facilities in phase one had the three reading rule suspended and it was passed. This loan was necessary because the first loan did not cover several items that had been included in the phase 1 portion of the downtown revitalization project.

Regarding phase one, the construction on South Detroit street is still on time and is expected to be complete within the next two weeks.

On March 9th and March 23rd at 7P.M. there will be a Public Hearing regarding the cities natural gas aggregation program plan of operation and governance. The council noted that the City of Kenton passed a bill in November of 2011 to allow the City of Kenton to form a program to purchase natural gas on behalf of the city residents. But even with this passed the city is not even ready to solicit bids because these are just the beginning steps.

Public Information Officer and Parks and Recreation Director Taylor Klinger announced that in the last seven days the City of Kenton website has had 1,975 views as well as 242 file downloads which is considered very good and that employment applications for various pool positions are located under the employment tab at the City of Kenton website or at https://cityofkenton.com/employment

The next meeting of the Kenton tree Commission will be held on March 12th at 1P.M.

The next meeting of the Kenton City Council will be held on Monday March 9th at 7 P.M.
