Kenton Announces Plans for Commencement Ceremony

Commencement is a time to honor and recognize our Seniors for years of hard work and dedication and to celebrate their rite of passage to become future leaders of our community, state, and world.

The Kenton City Schools, as directed by Governor DeWine and the Ohio Department of Education, will be unable to hold our traditional graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 23, 2020.

We have been working to design an event that is both memorable and meaningful for our students and their families. Over the next few weeks, Seniors and their families will be contacted by Kenton High School to schedule a time for a single family in-person graduation in order to create a graduation video.

The graduation will be compliant with the directives from the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Health. We plan to release a virtual graduation video on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 9:00 p.m. for Seniors and their families at the Hi-Road Drive In.

The video will also be simultaneously released via district youtube, district Facebook page, and local Spectrum cable access channel 1021 for the general public to view at home.

Seniors and their parents should check their email on a regular basis for more detailed information.

Once current restrictions regarding mass gatherings have been lifted, the district plans to hold a reception for Seniors and their families at Robinson Field.

These are unprecedented times and everyone’s sense of normalcy has been forever altered.

We must embrace these times and write a new story, our own story, and make history.

The Kenton City School district is committed to making a lasting memory for our class of 2020. Congratulations to the Class of 2020!
