John E. McClaren

A celebration of life service for John Earnest McClaren will be held at a later date. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with arrangements.

He died on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at Kenton Nursing and Rehab. He was born on October 22, 1943 in Hepburn to the late Pearl “Babe” and Pearl (Drumm) McClaren. On January 18, 1962 she married his wife of 58 years, Patricia Brown and she survives in Kenton.

Also surviving are daughter; Jennifer (Kent Rager) Vansky, a brother; Tom (Nancy) McClaren, grandchildren; Brooke Vansky, Kristin McClaren, Stephanie McClaren, Tyler John McClaren, great-grandchildren; Savannah Flores, Collin Flores, Hayley McLaren, Hunter Dean Roberts, Kyle McLaren, Joseph Allen McClaren and Journie Mewhorter.

He was preceded in death by 2 sons; Jeffrey McClaren, Joseph McClaren, 2 sisters; Helen Ann Williams, Alice Miller, and a brother Buford Loney.

John was a 1962 graduate of Kenton High School. He then joined the U.S. Army National Guard, where he served for several years.

He retired from Rockwell International and United Steel Workers. He was an international union representative for many years, which was his passion. John loved coaching little league baseball, was an avid Ohio State and die hard Cleveland Browns fan. He was a member of the Kenton Moose and American Legion.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Brain Tumor Association.
