Written by on April 30, 2020

The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office received notification today that the Public Safety Answering Point; 9-1-1 Center in Hardin County has once again achieved compliance with the State of Ohio 9-1-1- Program Office’s regulations for PSAPs.

These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following: Continued education for telecommunicators, a training program for new telecommunicators, and technical/mechanical standards in the dispatch center.

The national standard for 9-1-1 call-to-answer time (when the phone rings in the center and is answered by a telecommunicator) states that 90% of calls must be answered within 10 seconds.

Of the 7,300+ 9-1-1 calls that were received in 2019, 99.8% of those calls were answered within 10 seconds, with 100% of them being answered within 20 seconds.

Sheriff Keith Everhart, “A big ‘THANK YOU’ to ALL of our telecommunications staff for exceeding the national average, and maintaining the highest training standards and for doing your job diligently day in and day out. Specifically I would like to call out Communications Coordinator Emily Roy and TAC Supervisor Ashley Bodine for overseeing this very important division within the Office of Sheriff here in Hardin County. Just another vital role the dedicated staff of the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for.”
