Written by on November 6, 2020

The Hardin County Agricultural Society met Wednesday, November 4, 2020, for their November board meeting. Twelve director and seven guests were present.

Brad Murphy, Board Vice President, called the meeting to order.

More thank you’s were read from JR Fair exhibitors and a letter was read from the Hardin County Mounted Posse – their organization gave back $1000 of their payment for working the fair gates during the Fair, stating they wanted to help with future efforts of the fair board. Their generosity was greatly appreciated!

The executive committee will be meeting soon to work on the budget for next year, contracts, bonuses and rental rates. It was also noted one new director will be elected to the Executive Committee at the December meeting, since Dale Cockerell’s time has expired for being on the committee.

Kelly Buchenroth, chairperson of the Building & Grounds Committee stated winter storage is close to being full. Inventory sheets are still needed for the dairy barn, Goshen barn, and hog barn, infield and milk house. A quote from Dan King to replace all flush valve toilets and urinals to hands free and replace all faucets with hands free faucets was received. This quote was approved by the board, contingent upon CARES Act money covering it. This quote will be sent to the Hardin County Commissioners. The board also agreed to apply for a $1000 grant for more security cameras.

It was noted there are still 3 livestock buyers who haven’t paid their bills from the livestock sale that total $2,050. This is effecting 24 livestock exhibitors from receiving their checks. The livestock sale committee will meet on Wednesday, Dec. 9th at 6pm and the livestock committees will meet at 7pm that same day, to start preparing for the 2021 Hardin County Fair. These meetings will be held in the Community Building.

Sherri Beale, JR Fair Board Advisor, stated some committees have decided to go away from having trophies for their awards and are going to use other items. Sherri talked about the monthly financial report and it was decided to submit the report quarterly to the Senior Fair Board. Amanda Murphy, JR Fair Board Advisor, stated she almost has all of the names for the 2021 JR Fair Board finalized.
