Hancock County Sheriff Reminds Motorists to be Aware of Farm Equipment

Written by on October 23, 2019

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind all motorists to remain vigilant as they are traveling this time of year due to increased farm equipment traffic on the roadway.

The Sheriff’s Office asks that motorists give themselves extra time to reach their destination due to this increase.

If a farmer has pulled over to allow you to pass please do so with extreme caution and remember to follow all traffic laws.

The Sheriff’s Office would encourage you to never pass on hills, curves or in any situation that would block your view of oncoming vehicles.

Never assume a farmer knows you are near their vehicle and use your horn before attempting to pass.

By allowing yourself extra time, passing with care, being patient and remaining visible this will greatly increase road safety for all vehicles during the harvest season.
