Written by on September 4, 2019

Findlay, OH April 29, 2019 — Habitat for Humanity of Findlay/Hancock County will kick off construction of its 43rd home at a Raise the Wall ceremony open to the public Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019 at 1627 Payne Ave., Findlay, Ohio at 9 a.m.

Breakfast will be provided by Century 21.

The new homeowners, the Golden Family, will thank all the donors and sponsors that raised the funds to build this home, followed by a countdown and raising of the first wall of their home.

Women volunteers from across Hancock County will raise their hammers on a Habitat for Humanity construction site, and build a home in just 14 volunteer days throughout
September.

Findlay/Hancock County Habitat’s 6h Women Build event challenges women to devote at least one day to creating safe and affordable housing in our community. This home
will be Findlay/Hancock County Habitat’s 14th new home in the West Park neighborhood.

A safe, stable home is the foundation for the strength, stability, and independence hardworking families need to build better futures. Habitat homeowners invest 400 hours of “sweat equity,” working alongside our staff and volunteers to help build their own homes and working in ReStore.

When construction is complete, they make affordable mortgage payments that are recycled back into the Habitat program to build more homes for more families.

Women can create significant change in their neighborhoods by volunteering and bringing attention to the fact that homeownership is a pathway to better financial futures, better education, better health, and a more cared-for, connected community.

During the 2019 event, Women Builders will contribute their time, talent, and treasure to build a home in West Park. A total of 400 women will participate in 14 build day events throughout the month.

Findlay/Hancock County Habitat is honored to have the support of so many build sponsors and teams. Partnering with Habitat for Humanity not only supports affordable housing for families throughout Hancock County, but it also demonstrates our community’s commitment to sustainability.

Since 2006, Women Build volunteers have built or repaired five houses in Hancock County, and raised over $450,000.
