Government Offices Closed for President’s Day

Written by on February 18, 2019

Today is President’s Day.

It was originally established in 1885 in recognition of President George Washington, but the holiday became known as Presidents Day after it was moved as part of 1971’s Uniform Monday Holiday Act, an attempt to create more three-day weekends for the nation’s workers.

Government offices are closed as are most financial institutions. There is no mail delivery, and the Kenton Times and Daily Chief-Union newspapers will not publish today.

There will only be online editions of the papers available today.
