Forest Conducting Smoke Test of its Sanitary Sewer System

Written by on August 27, 2019

The Village of Forest will be conducting a smoke test of its sanitary sewer systems.

As the village continues the flooding and remediation investigation, work crews will be in your area on August 28 and 29th.

The date is contingent on weather conditions. This test will assist the village in locating breaks or defects in our sewer system.

The smoke should NOT enter your home unless you have a defect in your homes plumbing system or you have drain traps that are dried up.

It is advisable for home owners to pour a half gallon of water into each floor drain prior to the testing date.

If smoke does enter your home, there is a strong reason to believe that potentially dangerous sewer gases are entering your home or business.

During the smoke testing process, if smoke would happen to enter your home, please call us at 567-674-3650, IMMEDIATELY!

The smoke is harmless to humans and pets but the sewer gas which may be present is not.

IMPORTANT:

If there is any individual in your home or business that is immobile or has respiratory problems, please notify us at 419-273-2500 prior to the testing date.
