Findlay Motorcyclist Involved in Wrong Way Accident on I 75 in Wood County

A Findlay man was involved in a wrong way accident on Interstate 75 in Wood County Monday night.

According to a release from the Bowling Green Post of the Ohio State Patrol, 52 year old Daniel Stover was operating the motorcycle north in the southbound lane of 75.

Trooper Jeffery Huffman was driving south on 75 and observed the motorcycle coming towards him. He activated the overhead emergency lights and began to pull off to the side of the road.

The cruiser was almost stopped when it was struck by the motorcycle.

Stover was ejected and was taken to St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo with non-life threatening injuries.

Trooper Huffman was taken to St. Vincent’s for treatment of minor injuries.

At the same time, a southbound pickup being driven by 58 year old Darrell Lanier, of Michigan, slowed down at the accident scene and was struck from behind by a motorcycle being operated by 35 year old Ryan Gleckler, of Bluffton.

Glecker was taken to the Toledo hospital with serious injuries.

Lanier and a passenger were not injured.

The crash remains under investigation and impairment appears to be a factor in regards to the wrong way driver.

Southbound Interstate 75 was closed for around three and half hours.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Wood County Sherriff’s Office, Bowling Green Fire Division, Central Joint Fire District, the Ohio Department of Transportation, Wright Tire & Auto, and Pat & Son Towing and Recovery.

The Patrol reminds motorists to call #677 when you see a reckless or impaired driver.
