Elida Knocks Off Kenton in Boys Tennis Match

Kenton High School Boys Varsity Tennis falls to Elida High School 5-0.

Elida 5 (2-0), Kenton 0 (0-1 WBL, 0-3 Overall)

The Tennis team suffered their first league loss of the season at the hands of an experienced Elida team.

The Closest match of the day came from Junior Hayden Robinson at 3rd singles, who lost 5-7, 2-6, while Landon Rush dropped a 1-6, 4-6 decision at 1st singles, and Taj Chahal fell behind and was unable to overcome a 6-1, 6-0 score at 2nd singles.

At 2nd doubles, Sophomores Cameron Zickafoose and Riley Messenger started off strong only to lose in a tie break in the first set, 6-7 (0-7), then lost the 2nd set 6-0. The first doubles team of Rocco Longbrake and Ian Lyons lost 1-6, 2-6.

Coach Rick Collins said, “The scores were closer this year compared to last year and the guys really had some nice shots, which really frustrated the Elida players several times. We just need more consistency which will come by playing more.”

The next match is at home today against LCC.
