Eldora L. “Dodie” Parkins

Eldora L. “Dodie” Parkins, 86, formerly of Houcktown passed away on Monday, July 6, 2020 at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center. Dodie was born on November 6, 1933 in Houcktown, Ohio to the late Fred Sutter and Cecil Dale (Parish) Kain. On November 3, 1957, Dodie married Donald Wymer and they had three children: Belinda (Andy) Sterling of Findlay; Kevin and Beth Wymer, both deceased. They later divorced in 1976. On October 6, 2000, Eldora married Lynn J. Parkins, Sr., and he preceded her in death on April 23, 2009. Dodie is survived by stepsons: Andrew Parkins, Lynn J. (Mary) Parkins, and Gregory Parkins, all of Findlay; and stepdaughters: Rita (Michael) Farmer of Findlay, Kathy Thompson of Findlay, Linda (Gene) Timberman of Needmore, PA, and Debbie McCartney of Findlay. Dodie is also survived by 17 step-grandchildren, and many step-great-grandchildren. Dodie was preceded in death by her brothers: Richard Kain, Rolland Kain, and Max Kain. Dodie worked for many years at Carey Plastics as an Inspector. She was a member of Houcktown United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star of Findlay, and previously worked at Findlay Fibers, and Kodak. She enjoyed crafting, painting with watercolors, camping at Lake Erie, and going to garage sales. Dodie was a beautiful lady, inside and out, and very giving of herself to help others. Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00pm on Friday, July 10, 2020 at CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Arlington, with a funeral service following visitation at 2:00pm. Pastor Al Schnipke will officiate and burial will follow at Houcktown Cemetery.
