Eight Hardin Northern Grads Selected to Honor Court

Hardin Northern High School will hold its 2019 commencement on Sunday, May 19, at 2:00 pm in the auditorium.

 

Eight of the 27 graduating seniors have been selected as Honor Court graduates.

 

Each of the students has maintained a grade point average between 3.5 and 4.0 on a 4.0 scale and will receive an Honor Court medallion at the commencement.

 

The eight Honor Court students are:

 

.Cassidy Crooks: is the daughter of Ryan Crooks and Emily Crooks. She currently has a 3.5 GPA and plans to attend The University of Findlay majoring in Animal Science/ Pre-Vet. In high school, Cassidy has been involved in FFA for four years, History Brigade, Book Club, and High School Quiz Bowl. Cassidy has received Elk’s Teen of the Month for January, FFA Greenhand and Chapter degree, Nutrition academic award, Advanced Ag Science academic award, Academic Letter, has been the 2017-2018 FFA Reporter, and is currently the 2018-2019 FFA Secretary.

 

.Ashton Nicole Dye: is the daughter of Jody and Shanda Dye. She has a 3.6 GPA and plans to attend Bowling Green State University where she will be majoring in Inclusive Early Childhood Education. While at Hardin Northern, Ashton has participated in basketball, softball, FFA, FCCLA, FCA, and Awakened Commotion. She was named an Elk’s Teen of the Month in November and has earned many athletic honors, including: First Team NWCC and the team’s Leadership Award for basketball, and Second Team NWCC and the team’s Defensive Award for softball. Ashton is a member of Ada Full Gospel Church.

 

.Brady Reece Lamb: is the son of Jeffrey and Connie Lamb. He currently has a 3.7 GPA and plans to attend Rhodes State College majoring in Nursing. In high school, Brady has participated in FCCLA for four years, Student Council for four years, Cross Country for four years, Track and Field for four years, and basketball for two years. Brady was also involved in the Peers Assisting With Success (P.A.W.S) tutoring program for two years, which offers help to students in junior high and high school. He was also inducted into the National Honor Society as a Junior, and was Elks Teen of the Month for the month of October. Brady was the recipient of the Polar Bear Award in Cross Country in all four years, and also received the Century Award his Freshman year of Track and Field. Outside of school, Brady is a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dola, and does volunteer work around the community.

 

.Emma Catherine Miller: is the daughter of Mike and June Miller of Dunkirk. She plans to attend the University of Findlay majoring in nursing. She currently has a 4.0 GPA and has received various Top-of-Class awards ranging from science to the arts. In high school, Emma has participated in volleyball, Student Council, and FCCLA, all for four years. She is a varsity letter winner for volleyball and received honorable mention in the NWCC. She is currently the president of FCCLA. Emma has also been an FFA member for one year and a peer tutor for two years. She was inducted into National Honor Society as a junior. Emma served two years on Junior Fair Board and was a member of the Blanchard Pleasant Buckeyes 4-H Club. She is a member of Transfiguration of the Lord Parish, where she serves as a lector. Emma received Elk’s Most Valuable Student, the Honda STEM Medal, the Franklin B. Walter All Scholastic Award, November Elk’s Teen of the Month, and Wendy’s High School Heisman. She has received a University of Findlay Academic Scholarship, Competitor’s Award, and Founder’s Award. Emma was a recipient of the Lotz Family Scholarship and the Hardin Northern FFA Alumni Scholarship. She has also received scholarships from Hancock Wood Electric Cooperative and Mercy Health-St. Rita’s.

 

.Virginia Mills: is the daughter Deborah and Barton Mills. She currently has a 3.56 GPA and plans to attend The Ohio State University Lima majoring in zoology. In high school, Virginia has been involved in marching band for four years, concert band for four years, jazz band for one year, basketball cheerleading for four years, quiz bowl for four years, FFA for four years, 4-H for one year, was on homecoming court junior year, Big Brothers Big Sisters for two years, and was on the Junior Prom Committee. She was also inducted into the National Honor Society her junior year. She received Elk’s Teen of the Month for January, GRIT award and first year varsity letter for cheerleading, and Academic Letter for 3.5 GPA, FFA Greenhand degree, FFA Chapter degree, 2017-2018 FFA Sentinel, and is currently the 2018-2019 FFA Vice President. She also coached the Wildlife Management team for FFA, along with being the 2017-2018 Marching Band Treasurer, and the 2018-2019 Marching Band President. She has also received the Lotz Family Scholarship, FFA Alumni Scholarship, Lewis and Ruth Rader Scholarship, Alice Minter Memorial Scholarship, Katrina Winzenried endowment, Erma & Paul Nicely endowment, and the Choose Lima First Scholarship.

 

.Morgan Gertrude Pauley: is the daughter of James and Lisa Pauley of Dunkirk. She currently has a 3.6 GPA and plans to attend Ohio University majoring in forensic chemistry. In high school, Morgan has been involved in volleyball for four years and has her varsity letter, FCA for four years, yearbook for four years, Student Council for four years, FCCLA for three years, School Newspaper editor for three years, Big Brothers Big Sisters for two years, FFA for two years, Hardin County Junior Fairboard for two years, and the lead in the Odd Couple play. Morgan was inducted in the National Honor Society her junior year. Morgan has received Elks Teen Of The Month for December, FFA Greenhand and NWCC honorable mention for volleyball. Lastly, Morgan has received an Ohio University Academic Scholarship and The Lotz Family Scholarship.

 

.Gabriella Lynn Thuy Weaver: is the daughter of Dewayne and Cindy Weaver. She currently has a 4.0 GPA and plans on attending Ohio University where she will be majoring in Psychology. In high school, Gabby has been involved in volleyball for four years and has her varsity letter, FFA for one year, Big Brothers Big Sisters for one year, Peer Tutoring for two years, Yearbook Editor for one year, School Newspaper Editor for one year, FCA for four years, Hardin County Junior Fairboard for four years, and the Junior Prom Committee. She was also inducted into National Honor Society her junior year. Gabby is the vice president of FCCLA and has been a member the past four years. She has also been a member of Student Council for the past four years, and currently serves as president. Gabby also currently works at The Dairy Dream, as well as Twirl. Gabby has received Elk’s Teen of the Month for October, Daughters of the American Revolution Award, Most Improved in volleyball, Coaches Award in volleyball, NWCC Honorable Mention in volleyball, NWCC 2nd Team in volleyball, Art II and III Academic Awards, Biology II Academic Award, English II Award, and Homecoming Queen. Gabby has helped at Vacation Bible School, and is a member of Kenton Church of the Nazarene. Lastly, Gabby has received an Ohio University Scholarship, The Lotz Family Scholarship, The Dunkirk Garden Club Scholarship, and The Hardin Northern Alumni Scholarship.

 

.Cody Joel Wilmoth: is the son of David and Sherry Wilmoth. He currently has a 3.7 GPA and plans to enter the workforce as a welder. In high school, Cody has been involved in football for four years, basketball four years, track for 3 years and was inducted to the National Honor Society his senior year. He was given the polar bear award (4 years) and most improved (1 year)
