Dolores Jeanne Miller, age 91, of Findlay, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at 7:45am, in her home of 9 years, with her family at her side. She enjoyed many years of activity, but this past year had really started to make her feel old. Not so bad for a 91 year old, in our opinion! She was born April 15, 1929, in Findlay, to Evelyn & Edward Wohlgamuth, along with her siblings: Sharon (deceased), Ed (deceased), Bob (deceased), and Kathy. After caring for her parents until their early deaths, she quit school to raise her siblings. She married Thomas Miller on March 21, 1950, and they had 5 children: Stan (Jo) Miller, Pam (Neil) White, Darlene Cobb (Brian Minger), Jill (Tom) Spoors, and Darrin (Tammie) Miller. They were blessed with 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Dolores and Tom enjoyed many winters in Florida, but ended up full time in Findlay, where they first met at the Kroger store where she was a cashier. They spent many hours happily working on their home, built together with the help of their family one long summer. Dolores would come up with an idea, and Tom would whistle and sing as he made her dreams come to life. It was really tough to lose that partnership and try to develop a new normal, when Tom passed away on December 13, 2010. After some months of living with her children, her beloved nephew Rob came from Michigan in 2011, and worked through the summer, and put together her home, where she has lived the last 9 years, with his right hand man, Stan. Rob really made it come together right, and we were so thankful for him. She volunteered at the Humane society on Bingo nights, and helped with many fund raisers. She loved flowers and gardening, and went right to work on her new yard. There was a patio to lay, a pond to put in, as well as the yearly planting of annuals and shifting of perennials to new spots in the yard. The bird feeders were set up and kept full, and the squirrels became her friends, taking peanuts out of her hand, or standing up at her front door to remind her they needed another peanut. She had a raccoon until he got old enough to be set free. Dolores was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, and really missed going there. “Turning Point” with David Jerimiah helped fill the gap. Friends and neighbors, Brenda and Amber especially, all lent support through this physically and emotionally difficult time. A special thank you to Bridge Hospice nurse Jessica, and aid Donna, who went out of their way to be helpful and who Dolores said felt just like family. Also for Melissa, Sherry, Jim, and Chaplain Tomas for their visits. We are so grateful to have had their help and to be able to call anytime of the night or day when we didn’t know what to do. They were truly a Godsend! COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME is handling arrangements, and the services will be private for the family. Memorials may be sent to Wyandot County Humane Society where she got her rescue dog, Wolfie, the Hancock County Humane Society, or to Trinity Baptist Church.
