The Hardin County Commissioners met last week. According to a release from the Commissioners office, the Commissioners received an update from Treasurer Denise Althauser on Real Estate collections. She advised that the collections this year are good with 4.6% left.

Health Director Cindy Keller gave an update for the Health Department. The board is still working on hiring a new Health Commissioner as well as a Medical Health Director. Keller also commented that part of the reason for the COVID upswing was people getting complacent and are group meeting. Keller stated they are working on education and that masks do minimize the risk in conjunction with handwashing and social distancing. Keller also informed the commissioners that the Health Department is most concerned with Ada being a hot spot and informed the commissioners ONU has been trained to do their contact tracing. There is concern with the upcoming holidays.

Keller also stated that COVID has become an all-consuming pandemic within the department and that several programs will need to be rebuilt when the pandemic slows.
