Celina Tops Kenton in Girls Tennis Match Thursday

The Kenton Girls Tennis team lost to their last WBL opponent of the season Celina 4-1 on Thursday night.

Winning for the Wildcat’s was senior Mykaela Schriber at first singles. Mykaela topped Celina’s Gracie Gabes 6-1, 6-2.

“Mykaela played very well tonight and was hitting many winners cross court and down the line. It was nice to see her confident and win her last official season high school match. We hope she continues to take this level of play into the Western Buckeye League Tournament next Thursday,” said coach Katie Isenbarger.

Kenton second singles Lily Osborn lost 6-0, 6-0 to Celina’s Kaylin Avers.

Third singles of Kenton Grace Collins was beaten 6-1, 6-1 by Amy Hartings of Celina.

Kenton’s first doubles of Kayce Sherman and Aaliyah Rogers were bested by Celina’s Madina Davlatboyeva and Kaylyn Saunders 6-3, 6-0.

Kenton’s second singles lost to Celina’s Audrey Albers and Michelle Elston 6-2, 6-2.

“This being our last home match of the season, we saw some good things, and somethings we will need to work on before the WBL tournament. With three practices before the tournament we will be able to work on technical and teamwork skills. We look forward to the next few weeks of tournaments.”

Kenton will travel to UNOH next Thursday to play in the Western Buckeye League Tournament.
