Cattle Perish in Livestock Barn Fire Over the Weekend

Around 120 head of cattle perished in a barn fire over the weekend.

 

According to information from the Kenton Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to the 17,000 block of County Road 265 at around 10:30 Saturday night.

 

Upon arrival, the barn was fully involved in flames and was listed as a total loss.

 

The property is owned by Elmer Bontrager.

 

The fire was believed to be unintentional, but remains under investigation.

 

Mutual assistance was provided by fire departments from Ridgeway and Mt. Victory.

 

Firefighters were on the scene until around 1:15 Sunday morning.
