Bellefontaine Police Department to Accept Lateral Transfers

The Bellefontaine Police Department, in conjunction with the Bellefontaine Civil Service Commission announced that effective in 2020, the Bellefontaine Police Department will begin accepting lateral transfers.
This change allows current law enforcement officers that already work in policing to apply to work at the Bellefontaine agency.
This eliminates the need for current law enforcement officers to take a written examination to enter the hiring process.
The list will be considered an additional pool of candidates that the City may hire from in addition to any list certified by the Civil Service Commission of applicants who have not yet been hired by another agency.
The City then may choose to hire from either list, allowing for a broader view of potential candidates.
