“Beats & Brews” In The May and The Film “Overcomer” In The Main Theatre Are Featured at The Marion Palace Theatre This Weekend

Marion, Ohio – This weekend offers entertainment seekers two separate opportunities at the historic Marion Palace Theatre. Scheduled events include“Beats & Brews” music and craft beer tasting event and the inspiring film “Overcomer.”

Kicking off the Music in the May series on Friday, September 27 at 7:30 p.m. is the event titled “Beats & Brews.” The event includes live music by local rock band Omega Kick (John Mullins/guitar and keyboard, Alex Mullins guitar/backing vocals, Les Tackett/drums). The band will perform a mix of the greatest rock and roll hits by such bands and artists as The Doobie Brothers, Jimi Hendrix, Led-Zeppelin, Foo Fighters, Eagles, Elton John, and more. Adding to the fun will be a craft beer tasting of “brews” by Marion Brewing Company. Ticket prices are $16 show; $5 flight of 4 beers; $15 cheese/food board. On Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29 the Palace will show the Christian sports drama film, “Overcomer.” The following synopsis is provided by AFFIRM/Provident Films.

Life changes overnight for Coach John Harrison when his high school basketball team and state championship dreams are crushed under the weight of unexpected news. When the largest manufacturing plant shuts down and hundreds of families leave their town, John questions how he and his family will face an uncertain future. After reluctantly agreeing to coach cross-country, John and his wife, Amy, meet an aspiring athlete who’s pushing her limits on a journey toward discovery. Inspired by the words and prayers of a new-found friend, John becomes the least likely coach helping the least likely runner attempt the impossible in the biggest race of the year.

“Overcomer” is rated PG for some thematic elements and runs 1 hour, 59 minutes. Movie admission prices are $4 for all ages and $2 for current 2019-2020 PCAA members presenting a valid membership card. Show times on Saturday and Sunday are at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Open captions will be shown on Sunday afternoon.
