2019 Citizen’s Academy Slated

Applications are now being accepted for the 2019 Citizens Sheriff’s Academy offered by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office.

It will be conducted on consecutive Thursdays March 7 – April 18th, 6 – 8:30 pm. at the Sheriff’s Office, 1025 S. Main St., Kenton.

The Academy will provide participants a working knowledge of the Sheriff’s Office. It explains the various aspects of the Sheriff’s responsibilities using classroom discussion and hands-on participation to provide an overview of the talents, skills, diversity and quality of the Sheriff’s Office.

Areas of instruction, facilitated by Sheriff’s Office personnel will include: Sheriff’s administration, enforcement, investigations, special operations, firearms; court services and corrections – which will include a tour of the Multi-County Correctional Facility in Marion.

According to Sheriff Keith Everhart, the Citizens Academy is designed to develop and continue a partnership for safety and security for the benefit of Hardin County citizens.

Applications should be picked up at the Sheriff’s Office. They must be completed and returned with a $25 non-refundable fee (check or money order, only) by March 1st. Applicants must be Hardin County residents, 18 years of age or older. Class size is limited. A waiting list will be maintained for future academies. An academy certificate will be awarded for successful completion.
